OCG Secretary General visits Hungarian sister society
29 European computer societies are co-operatin in the network of European IT associations, represented in CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies).
On 12 September OCG General Secretary Ronald Bieber visited OCG´s Hungarian sister society, the John von Neumann Computer Society (Neumann János Számítógéptudományi Társaság - NJSZT) in Budapest. NJSZT General Secretary Képes Gábor presented the Informatics History Archive (ITA) and a possible future project to develop a middle-European database for informatics history was discussed.
As physicist Ronald Bieber was delighted to receive a book on John von Neumann when they visited Neumann´s birth house together.
Together with Katalin Malmos, Szilvia Rákosi and Nándor Kürtössy (John von Neumann Computer Society) Gábor and Bieber talked about ICDL in Austria and Hungary, the importance of robotics education (also within ICDL) and the automatic test system Sophia which was developed in Austria and has been successfully employed in Hungary.
