Overview
On May 13–14, 2025, the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) organizes an international symposium on the topic of informatics in the educational context. The event will be held at OCG’s headquarters, located in the heart of Vienna at Wollzeile 1.
Goals
The symposium aims to discuss and highlight the essential role of informatics education and training, with a special focus on K-12 education. Renowned experts, policy makers, and educators from across Europe will gather to discuss latest developments, challenges and possibilities regarding teaching informatics at school level as well as exchange best practices of how to foster and integrate informatics in educational curricula.
Program
The program will feature keynotes and panel discussions with experts and policy makers as well as 60-second pitch presentations and poster sessions by young researchers and PhD students.
The symposium will include an evening session featuring Austrian political representatives to discuss formalizing informatics as part of final high school exam (in German: Maturafach).
